Spring Rolls and Sunny Strolls

I love spending a sunny afternoon by the coast.

All the better when food is involved though….

KO Asian Kitchen is located at Larcomar, set into the cliffside in Miraflores. They offer a mixed selection of various Asian and fusion dishes – some more authentic than others (I’m looking at you kimchi-cheese maki rolls!). Think ramen, maki rolls, maki udon from Japanese cuisine, banh mi and pho from Vietnamese, spring rolls and dim sum from, mainly, Chinese,  and many other dishes from Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Korea to name a few.

It’s basically the best place to go, when your party can’t decide what they want to eat, because they have a little bit of everything. Everyone will be completely satisfied!

We started off with some piping hot spring rolls – super crispy on the outside, juicy and full of flavour on the inside. Then we ordered some maki rolls (the best thing for sharing), one of which was called ‘Kim-Cheese’ – a fun little fusion number made with kimchi cream and quite delicious! The other was ‘Dragon Tuna’ because a can never resist tuna sushi, and this one came with avocado, Japanese cucumber, and a slight kick from the spicy mayo.

We finished up with buttered, grilled ramen noodles topped with fillet steak, green onion and parmesan, served still sizzling on a cast iron pan. It was utterly delightful.

After that, we decided to take a wander along the malecón before heading home. It was gloriously sunny, so the perfect time for it! I can’t imagine it looks like this at the moment, as Lima is in the middle of a very dull, grey winter, but in the summer it’s a wonderful spot for a post-lunch walk. Even though all you might want is a post-lunch nap…

We drove along to Parque Itzhak Rabin, although you could walk from Larcomar all the way along, as it has quite a bit of shade to sit under after the sun becomes a bit too much! On one side you can walk through Parque Grau and on the other the Plaza Santa Teresa. Not much further along is the park with the lighthouse in, which I would definitely recommend checking out along your route. It’s honestly a really nice area to take a wander and especially when you need to distract yourself from your post-lunch slump and work off some/all of those maki rolls!
