Christmas Gift Guide – Food & Drink

Welcome to my fifth and final gift guide and I think I might have saved the best until last!

I’ve already shared my gift guides for people who love hosting parties, for those looking to make some eco-friendly changes in their lives, for those who love to cook or experiment in the kitchen and for those who love to travel. So if you haven’t seen those, and think they might be perfect for someone you know, then click on the links to take a look!

As I said in my last guide, for me, Christmas is not about the gifts. However, sometimes you do want to get somebody a special something, or perhaps you need to (like for Secret Santa or a December birthday), so I thought I would put together some little lists for inspiration. I find other people’s lists and recommendations so useful and even if I don’t purchase anything from them, they often give me an idea for something I hadn’t thought of before. The Amsterdam Edit – Part 1

Amsterdam is probably one of my favourite cities in the world. I love the way of life there, full of food, canals and bikes. There’s a ton of apple pie, pancakes, croquettes and dutch genever. It’s wonderful.

We’ve visited a couple of times recently and because of all the great places we found I wanted to collate some that you wouldn’t want to miss out on. So, there’ll be a mix of food spots, museums, galleries, stores and public spaces that we would absolutely recommend to everyone. I say a mix, but honestly, it’s mainly food. I can’t help myself.

I’ve only ever visited during spring/summer, but I think Amsterdam would be a great place to take a city break over the Christmas period. However, it’s not a ‘one-season-only’ city, so whenever you visit will be just as lively and charismatic.

I’m splitting my edit over two parts as I cannot possibly fit everything into one post. It would literally just be endless and you might lose your favourite place amongst all the others.

I hope you enjoy a wander through this gorgeous Dutch city and find some places that inspire you to visit or help you to plan an upcoming trip…. Continue reading

24 Hours in Munich, Germany

Back in December I made my first ever trip to Germany, partly to visit the Christmas markets but partly just to spend time in one of Germany’s beautiful cities.

I chose Munich as it seemed to have the best of everything. A thriving food and drink scene, a gorgeous old town, a highly recommended Christmas market (post here) and a stunning surrounding area full of snowy mountains and fairytale castles (post here). Continue reading

11 Top Spots To Eat & Drink in New York City

New York, New York, what a wonderful town….

And wonderful it sure is, especially the food and drink scene. From fancy restaurants and rooftop bars to markets and traditional street food, New York City has it all. There is so much to be savoured and never enough time to try it all, so I thought I would share a few of my favourite finds from my most recent visit to the Big Apple.

I hope you find something to tickle your tastebuds! Continue reading

The Foods You Have to Eat in Amsterdam (and Where to Find Them)

Amsterdam is the most beautiful city and after spending 5 days there I can definitely say it’s one of the top places on my list of ‘places I want to live’. I highly recommend you take some time to visit Amsterdam, even if it’s just for a weekend. It’s absolutely stunning and you can spend hours just wandering the pretty streets and alongside the canals.

However, Amsterdam is so much more than its aesthetic. It’s full of culture and history (the Rijksmuseum is amazing and the Vondelpark is gorgeous), but it’s also jam packed with delicious places to eat and drink. The Dutch have a lot of specialties that you don’t often see outside of the Netherlands, and they also have some sublime versions of things that you can, so you genuinely have to try everything!

I hope this little guide gives you a good starting point for your next trip to Amsterdam. Continue reading

District Edit – Miraflores Highlights

This is the first neighbourhood guide for my favourite locations in Lima and it’s all about the tourist friendly, foodie district of Miraflores. There are so many amazing places to see here, so the list is pretty long. However, there are always places for me to add as new places pop up, so don’t forget to check back!

This guide partners with my list on Google Maps, ‘Distrcit Edit – Miraflores’ and it just explains my choices in slightly more detail and shares any extra information I may have written previously. Links for the different locations are available through the map. I hope this helps give you some inspiration for your next trip to Miraflores!

This is the link to the map to check out my recommendations and their location – https://www.google.com/maps/placelists/list/1BGz-v0YZ6RQLcsXJd8nL8y3ODLQ

These locations have been added to the list in no particular order…
