The Wizarding World in London // The House of MinaLima

I’ve been having a crazy month of Harry Potter bookings, so I’ve been totally in the wizarding mood to write this post this week. I’ve managed to get tickets for ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ in London next year, booked into the Harry Potter WB studio tour (again….see my original visit here) to catch up on the new additions and to see it all decked out for Christmas in December, and managed to get tickets for the ‘A History of Magic’ exhibit at the British Library that’s on from now until the end of February. This all makes me so happy.

Another fabulous Harry Potter style trip you can make in London is to the House of MinaLima. Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima are the graphic design duo MinaLima, and they are the brains and talent behind all the graphic art elements of the ‘Harry Potter’ films and the spin-off film ‘Fantastic Beasts (And Where to Find Them)’. Biking to the Border (Part 2) // MAC & David LaChapelle

Filled with food after a delicious lunch at Perupa’ti, we set off for a bit of culture.

Our next stop was a hop, skip and a jump over the border into Barranco (literally a 5 minute walk) to visit the MAC; Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (Modern Art Museum).

We were here to see a photography exhibition by David LaChapelle, a photographer with a career spanning the decades from the 80’s until now. He is well known for his photography of celebrities and his work in numerous magazines, such as Vanity Fair, Vogue, GQ and Rolling Stone.

In the 1980’s he started showing his work in New York. Andy Warhol (pictured above) discovered him, liked his work and gave him a job at Interview magazine. The rest, as they say, is history. However, celebrities and fashion were not his only focus, because more recently he turned away from the commercial pieces and decided to only concentrate on the modern photographic art he had been producing.

This exhibition covers a wide range of his work through the years from 1984-2013.

I ♥ Lima // Top 10 Places to Visit (Part 5)

Feliz Día del Amor y la Amistad!

I much prefer this to the term ‘Valentine’s Day’, because it means Happy Love and Friendship Day. This makes me feel that anyone and everyone can celebrate and give thanks for those that are special in their lives, whether it be their boyfriend, brother, extended crazy family, their friends or even their tortoise. Who am I to judge, seeing as I can give thanks for all of those…even the tortoise.

We have reached the final day and I have a bumper pack for you today, with numbers 8,9 and 10, and these 3 I’m recommending to everyone, not just visitors. There aren’t any tourist-y bits, but there is a bit of something for all of you!

Las PlayasDuring the Summer months, sometimes the heat and humidity in the city can be too much and the Limeños escape to the beaches. Although the city itself is on the coast, I’m pretty sure it’s only surfers that brave those waters that border the city. Everybody else heads south on the Panamericana to the beach towns between about km 40 and km 95.
