The Best Dark & Fudgy Brownies
No joke. These are the best brownies in the whole world. Fact.
As I’m writing this, it’s the first day of spring and all I can think about is gardens full of beautiful flowers.
My birthday started off a little cloudy and during the day ended up a little stormy! Luckily only a very brief one, and by brief I mean like less than 15 minutes. This did not dampen our spirits or our day and we had the best time exploring the 2 lakes of Llanganuco, drinking beer on the mountainside and feasting on freshly fried local pork. Continue reading
Copacabaña Lodge is located in a valley up from Marcará, in the small town of Copa Grandé, under the gaze of the snow capped Cordillera Blanca mountains.
A couple of years ago I went to an exhibition at the MALI in Lima about the archaeological site of Chavín de Huántar and ever since I’d wanted to visit. Luckily, visiting the Cordillera Blanca meant that this was finally achievable!
Laguna Parón is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen.

I had been wanting to visit New Orleans for at least 7 years but when the time arose for booking a holiday I chose to plan a trip to Peru instead (another long time dream – and we all know what happened after that…), so it took me a long time to finally get there.
I have to say it was everything I thought it would be, full of food, drink, music and colourful culture. There is music playing on every corner in the French Quarter, especially jazz and blues, and there are fabulous places to eat, people having fun and the city is just alive and full of fun! Sadly, we were a little unlucky with the rainy weather so we didn’t get to experience everything we had planned, however we did pack a lot in to our New Year’s Eve trip.
The following experiences in New Orleans are by no means exhaustive (there is so much more to see and explore), but it’s a selection of things and places that I loved doing and would definitely recommend to do if you were planning a trip yourselves.
I was inspired by my last post to think of some favourite locations here in Lima that I find myself returning to again and again. Obviously there are so many amazing places to eat here, and some of those I’ve been to a few times, or wish I could visit more often, but these are the places that have remained a constant over the last few years. These are also the places that I continuously take people that come to visit me as I always know I can trust the quality.
When you’ve visited a city a few times, you accumulate favourite places that you just can’t wait to go back to every time you return.
For me this is Bistrot Victoires in Paris.

The Sky Garden in London is an amazing place to go for an early morning coffee (and cake), and chill out amongst the plants (and the clouds). It’s the highest public garden in London and has some incredible views of the city, and the great thing is that entry is completely free.
There are so many places in Barranco that I still need to try, so this is actually a much smaller list than it should be. I have the longest checklist of places to visit but there just isn’t enough time to visit them all. We have some firm favourites here that we keep getting drawn back to time and again, and we forget to try new spots. Probably a good problem to have though! If you have any favourites, please let me know in the comments below.
This following guide partners with my list on Google Maps, ‘District Edit – Barranco’. It explains my choices in more detail and shares any extra information I may have posted before. Links for the different locations are available through the map and I hope this helps give you some inspiration for your next trip to Barranco.

These locations have been added to the map in no particular order…
Atrapalo is running Lima Restaurant Week again until Sunday the 9th of April and from every set menu sold they will donate a percentage to helping the victims of the floods and landslides here in Peru.
