December Goals

Yes! December is finally here!

It’s not like I haven’t been thinking about and planning for Christmas for a while already, but I guess now it’s socially acceptable. Christmas season is my absolute favourite time of the year, with all of the fun activities, seasonal food, festive films and music, and time with the family. However, this year will be a little different as I’m not going to be celebrating it at home. This year it’s Christmas in Peru, so I’ll be needing to bring some of my English traditions here. I mean, I can’t possibly have Christmas without mince pies and roast potatoes!

So, what are my hopes and plans for this December…. Continue reading

Christmas Gift Guide – The Home Chef

Welcome to gift guide number three!

I’ve already shared my gift guide for people who love hosting parties and for those looking to make some eco-friendly changes in their lives, and we’re continuing on with another today.

As I said in my last guide, for me, Christmas is not about the gifts. However, sometimes you do want to get somebody a special something, or perhaps you need to (like for Secret Santa or a December birthday), so I thought I would put together some little lists for inspiration. I find other people’s lists and recommendations so useful and even if I don’t purchase anything from them, they often give me an idea for something I hadn’t thought of before. Christmas Gift Guide – Eco-Friendly

Welcome to gift guide number two!

Christmas Gift Guide – The Host

Gifting season will soon be upon us so I thought I would try my hand at ‘gift guiding’! For me, Christmas is not about the gifts and I honestly love baking gifts for people instead. However, sometimes you do want to get somebody a special something, or perhaps you need to (like for Secret Santa or a December birthday), so I thought I would put together some little lists for inspiration.

I find other people’s lists and recommendations so useful (I’ve already bought two gifts I found on one..) and even if I don’t purchase anything from them, they often give me an idea for something I hadn’t thought of before (or to search for a different style or more affordable option). I will be sharing five guides in total for food and travel and they will be a mix of things that I love and recommend, things I’ve purchased for others (I obviously can’t say what), or things that are actually on my wish list! Hot Spiced Apple Punch for Bonfire Night

Remember, remember the fifth of November. Gunpowder, treason and plot.

It’s bonfire night on Monday!! It’s one of my favourite days of the year, but sadly I won’t be in England to celebrate and watch all the fireworks. However, I can share a warming recipe for those who’ll be standing out in the cold lighting the bonfires and watching the displays over the weekend and on Monday night. Continue reading

My Hot Cross Bun Addiction

It’s a real thing. I promise.

I literally cannot go an Easter without eating this beautiful invention. In Peru, you cannot find hot cross buns (along with Cadbury’s creme eggs and mini eggs), which makes me unbelievably sad, so I have my mum either bring them to me in Lima when she comes to visit or freeze them until I go home later in the year. The problem is real. Continue reading
